Shantane - Mid-ripening variety of all-purpose carrot. Vegetational period of variety Shantane is 90-120 days. Carrot-root has conical pointless or pointed shape in a length of 14-16 cm, weight is 75-200 g with a smooth orange skin. Flesh is intensive orange, tender and juicy. Shantane has medium-sized core. Mid-ripening variety is characterized by high-yielding (60-90 t/ha) and marketability, it is suitable for long storage, fresh or conserving consumption. The best forecrop for carrot is crops that need organic fertilization. Carrot should be sown directly in an open ground (at steady place). Carrot can be sown on the ridges or not. In the regions with enough humidity or drop irrigation it is better to sow carrot on the ridges. Also this method is suitable for heavy soil. This method helps to receive even fruits with high marketability qualities and harvesting becomes easier. Distance between rows should be 30-45 cm.
